The standards of accommodation in Papua New Guinea have diversified. The country’s options for accommodation are minimized as you travel further from Port Lae and Moresby’s main centers.  The non-citizen individuals employed in PNG are bound to get accommodated in company-granted, fully or partially funded spaces, and it serves as a great business across the country.

In recent years, the region of Port Moresby has increased the number of units available for accommodation. There are several development projects in centers, but the availability and range have been limited. The cost of the spaces varies according to the quality and location. The most preferred units in the rental market are highly furnished one to two-bedded rooms with a proper supply of power, water, and 24/7 hr. security.

To get a rough idea regarding the cost and range, one must concern with real estate companies, including Century 21, Professionals, L J Hookers, and Strickland. There are hundreds of other estate businesses as well. To get more reasonable accommodation, one can look farther from renowned suburbs, where most Western non-citizens prefer to live.  

One of the key concerns of the citizens of Papua New Guinea is accommodation-assistance, and very few employers are considering it seriously. The citizens of the country are asking for improved housing. The increase in population in major cities of PNG has created pressure on housing stocks, whether a sufficient quantity of stock will be available in the future or not.  

The assistance provided by the employers varies widely when it is asked to assist national staff. Self-research and tax advice are required before settling the salary packages and policies for the hire hands.
