Modernisation of Port Moresby
A novel Port Moresby is on the horizon with the construction of additional land mark buildings which will include commercial, residential and hospitality infrastructure, all this expected to be rolled out in readiness for the APEC Summit in 2018. Steady progress is being recorded at different stages of development as outlined below:
a) APEC House
Construction is expected to commence by early 2018. This project will improve the outlook of Ela Beach by extending it 100 meters over the waters to enable clients enjoy the cool breeze from the ocean. The house will have land mark features that will symbolize Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.
b) Loloata Island
The island once used as a dive resort will be re-designed and developed into a high class breath taking luxury hotel comprising suites and villas to be leased out to holiday makers.
c) OPH Tower.
Phase two of renovations of old Parliament House is currently underway. This project will include special features to the existing building that will include the penthouse apartments and residential towers complemented with a commercial/retail area targeting corporate entities. This is a work in progress and completion is set for 2018.
d) Paga Hill Estate
This Estate will be structured as a cosmopolitan mall that will house among other entities, 800 residential apartments, commercial and cultural centres. Feasibility studies are underway and the project will kick off soon after government approval. The estimated cost of construction is K3 billion.
e) Range View Heights
Located in Wagian, construction is underway and an all-inclusive shopping mall with a secure parking area is progressing well.
f) Star Mountain Plaza
Due for completion in the third quarter of 2018, the K1.5 billion plaza will offer office and residential space to APEC 2018 Summit delegates.
When all is done, Port Moresby is expected to be among the highly preferred destinations for both tourism and foreign direct investment.
